Benny
Hinn - Healing
Worship Leaders: Benny Hinn and Jim Cernero
Integrity Music 1998
Benny Hinn's fame precedes this album. He is a charismatic evangelist who believes that God still heals people and works miracles today.
After hearing the first minute of this album, I knew that this was what I'd been looking for in a long time - pure, intimate worship. The 20-year-old "Holy Spirit Thou Art Welcome" returns with full choir arrangement, reminiscent of the revivals of the 70s' renewal movement. This sacred atmosphere continues through "The Lord's Prayer", sung by many of us since we were young.
It is a pleasant surprise that Integrity's artists appear to lead the praise and worship - Alvin Slaughter with "God Can", and Don Moen with "God is Good". Even Maurice Sklar, Integrity's showcase violinist, dedicates a long solo to God after "You Are My Hiding Place". Almost all of the songs, such as "Jehovah Jireh", "Jesus Name Above All Names" and "Blessed Be the Name of the Lord", would be familiar to worshippers who have followed Integrity's series.
This album understandably places more emphasis on worship than praise (there are 8 slow songs to 4 fast ones). And it was worship which touched the heart of God, as it would touch the heart of the listener - united, earnest, prayerful and heartfelt.
I listened to this album again and again without it losing its freshness. I hope that just as I have, you, too, will experience the healing power of Jehovah-Rophe - God Our Healer.
